Every part of our body is very important and needs to be given proper care or else they could give discomfort to us and worse, they may not be able to serve their purpose anymore which is a big loss to us. These parts, even the smallest ones have functions in our lives and they should not be taken for granted. From our eyes which give us sight to our ears which gives us hearing, proper care should be given to them.
Speaking of our ears, this is one if the five senses truly beneficial to us and allows us to hear different kinds of sounds. If they don't function well, out world will be so quiet because we won't be able to hear sounds. And if they experience discomforts and injuries like outer ear infection, it's either we'll have difficulty hearing or totally be deaf.
Now, we make it a point to clean our inner ear carefully and protect it from damage but as we give this kind of concern to our inner ear, the outer ear also deserves the same kind of concern from us or else, like I mentioned, an outer ear infection may occur.
An outer ear infection has something to do with the outer ear canal getting inflamed known to be more common to swimmers. This condition is usually caused when swimming in unclean water, shampoos entering the ear canal and just a simple scratching of your ears. You may think this is not something so serious because it won't directly affect the eardrum (which is the most sensitive part of the ear) but still you would want to pay attention to this if you don't want to live with the discomfort it can give.
Yes, there is discomfort involved in an outer ear infection due to the persistent ear pain felt. There are also times you'd feel like scratching your infected ear which must be avoided to prevent a more serious infection. Heaviness is also felt because the swelling contains pus. So, ask yourself if this is not something serious for you. But don't worry, if ever this unfortunate event happens to your own ears, there are ways to treat this condition and in the future prevent this from ever occurring again. One is to clean the ear canal and get rid of the pus for treatment to be effective. An ear doctor can help you in this process. Ear drops are used to treat an outer ear infection and is considered the first line of treatment for conditions like this. As for the pain accompanied by this, your doctor may prescribe a pain reliever for you to take and get rid of the pain.
But most importantly, if symptoms of an outer ear infection happen to come your way, never ever ignore it and consult your doctor right away.
Most of the problems with your ears may due to outer ear infection or middle ear. In some cases, apparent ear pain may be associated with pain in the throat, nose and throat, etc., as all the nerves in the facial area are very close to each other. The most common cause of earache, especially among children, is an infection of the middle ear, or otitis media. Middle ear infections occur when bacteria penetrate to the Eustachian tubes into the middle ear. Children are more prone to otitis media because their Eustachian tubes are still growing and therefore not able to quickly remove excess liquid. Because of this, the ear becomes vulnerable to infections.
